Catch the Top 5 Office Flicks on Satellite TV

Dredging through the doldrums of the daily grind is the fate of poor suckers in suits and ties, or, rather, the way that most of us live our daily lives.  There is little choice but to work, and with troubling economic times before us the range of job choice that existed even ten years ago is no longer there.  Between home and work we bounce, with little mental energy to do anything after long days at the computer but veg out in front of the big screen HD TVs our lucrative office jobs let us afford, and wait for another day to start.  Feeling all alone?  Chances are you are not the first person to feel this way.  Get some commiseration time in by checking out these top five office movies on satellite TV.

1.  Office Space.  When a typical office software company employee decides he just cannot take it anymore thing start to get interesting in this 1999 all time office movie classic.  From the creepy coworker Milton that everyone can equate to someone in their own office, to the lack of, and inability to force, enthusiasm of waitress Joanna, this movie is entirely too relatable.  As the characters dig themselves further into a hole, the audience can enjoy such satisfying scenes as smashing printers to gangster rap and office buildings burning in high definition.  Now if that is't a feel good office movie, it is hard to say what is.

2.  Trading Places.  In this Pygmalion-esque spin off, Mortimer and Randolph Duke, two commodity brokers, make a little wager.  By electing a criminal at random to transform into a successful businessman, Randolph intends to prove that with the right tools any man can achieve success.  Messing with the lives of not only criminal Billy Ray, but former employee Louis who is stripped of his wealth, this double edged plot also attempts to demonstrate that when down on his luck Louis will resort to a life of crime.  Getting a good look at all the evil schemes that go on, or at least we imagine go on, behind the closed doors of company executives, this 1983 film gives any disgruntled employee the chance too root for Billy and Lousi stickin' it to 'em.

3.  Wall Street.  When looking to reinforce your feelings that too much ambition is a bad thing, watch how ambition goes awry in this 1987 classic.  Wall Street cold-caller Buddy Fox intends to show everyone he has got the right stuff to play with the big money brokers like hot shot Gordon Gecko.  Shot down right from the start, Buddy learns that Gordon may be harder to please than he had originally imagined.  Some low blows ensue, culminating in blows to the face between Buddy and Gecko.  For anyone who ever fantasized about getting a quick shot at an opressive big shot, this film may be just right for you!

4.  9 to 5.  Any business women who have ever felt oppressed or belittled by a piggish boss, which covers just about all of them, can get a little taste for revenge in this 1980 office themed favorite.  Frank Hart, the man of the hour, is trapped in his home by his three assitants who take over his department, experiencing great success and increased productivity.  Just how long can they keep the boss and their secret under lock and key?  We are rooting for forever too.  There is nothing like a little revenge with your satellite TV.

5.  Clerks.  Noted for its colorful characters and quirky humor, this 1994 black and white comedy details a day in the life of down and out employees in a quickie mart and video store.  From playing hockey on the roof to a, to say the least, surprising ending, this is one day that at the very least, these begruntled employees cannot say was dull.
